Action Zora Arkus Duntov 40th Anniversary Corvette Collection

Eight years after I started collecting Corvette items, my (soon to be) wife Nancy and I were at the National Corvette Museum passing through during a trip. This set was on display at the gift shop. I asked about the set and quickly learned this was going to be expensive.

These cars were available a couple ways. You could buy models individually, or, as a complete set of 40 cars.

The full set of cars offered a number of extras. Full sets included a display stand, base and header, and each car had a number badge on the bottom. This is set #0473 which also contains the bonus pewter car. The museum employee gave me a brochure on the set and we took it home to think about it.

A few weeks later, after a lot of discussion, we decided to get one. This was quite a purchase for us back then, as the set price was a flat $1,000. And at the time, this was the most I had ever paid for any collectible.
